Those facing an unprecedented inflow of refugees can be offered 85% of cofinancing for transport of the assistance
Today the European Commission decided to increase the level of cofinancing for the transport of the assistance via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, following activation of the mechanism by Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia.
To respond to the urgent needs caused by an unprecedented inflow of refugees and migrants, th EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been activated by four countries so far this year: Hungary and Serbia in September and Slovenia and Croatia in October.
The mechanism was activated for material support such as tents, blankets, sanitary equipment and other essentials to help refugees this winter.
The EU Commission has decided to increase the level of cofinancing for transport of the assistance delivered by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism for the countries needing help in the refugee crisis from 55% to 85%.
