Adoption of amended Qualification Directive by the EU Parliament
The European Parliament adopted a revised version of the asylum directive on minimum standards for the qualification and status of third country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection and the content of the protection granted.
On the 27th of October 2011, the European Parliament adopted amendments of the asylum directive on minimum standards for the qualification and status of third country nationals or stateless persons as beneficiaries of international protection and the content of the protection granted. The amendments voted through include a common definition of groups considered especially vulnerable to state persecution in third countries. Also, the right to protection for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people is clarified in the legislative text. The original proposal for amendments to the directive was presented by the European Commission in 2008.
