The 7th edition of the EMN Bulletin provides updates on recent migration and international protection policy developments at EU and national level, including latest relevant published statistics.

The 7th edition of the EMN Bulletin provides information inter alia on:

  • General policy developments, including the regulations establishing the new 2014-2020 multi-annual financial instruments in the area of Home Affairs and the Commission’s strategic vision on the future political priorities in the area of Home Affairs.
     
  • Legal migration, including the fifth Annual Report on Immigration and Asylum, the Communication regarding the implementation of the EU Blue Card Directive, the adoption of the Seasonal Workers Directive, the entry into of the ICT Directive, as well as national developments in the field of economic migration (e.g. extension of the talent route in the UK) and student migration (e.g. new bill allowing students to stay in Sweden after graduation to look for jobs).
     
  • International protection and asylum, including the UNHCR Asylum Trends 2013 report, the EASO report on Age assessment practice in Europe, as well as national developments (e.g. evaluation of the reception policy of asylum-seekers in France, humanitarian admission / resettlement of Syrians in Austria / Ireland / Germany).
     
  • Eradication of trafficking in human beings, including the recent EMN study on Identification of victims of trafficking in international protection and forced return procedures.
     
  • Schengen borders & visas, including proposals and report on smart visa policy for economic growth, as well as national developments (e.g. entry into force of the Biometrics (Immigration) Act in the Netherlands).
     
  • External dimension, including the new Mobility Partnership between the EU and Tunisia, as well as other agreements and capacity building projects (e.g. between the Netherlands and Rwanda)
     
  • Irregular migration & return, including the Communication regarding the implementation of the Employer Sanctions Directive, the Communication on the EU Return Policy, the FRA report on the Criminalization of migrants in an irregular situation and of persons engaging with them, Frontex training for border guards, as well as national developments (e.g. common standards and functioning of detention centres in Spain).
  • Integration & citizenship, including the report on the implementation of the EU framework for national Roma integration strategies, and national developents (e.g. recommendations to improve the integration of female migrants in France, first integration policy in Slovakia, etc.).
