Annual Report on Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings 2016 (Myria)

In its annual report, Myria examines the evolution and the results of the fight against smuggling and trafficking in human beings and provides recommendations. The 2016 report focuses in particular on the exploitation of begging.

This is the 19th annual report on smuggling and trafficking in human beings produced by Myria, the  Federal migration Centre and  independent National Rapporteur on trafficking in human beings.

In a first part, the report focuses on a type of trafficking that has been little examined so far : the exploitation of begging.

In a second part, the report provides information on the recent evolutions of the judicial and political framework at the european and national level, an analysis of several cases and an overview of caselaw, as well as examples of good practices regarding the fight against trafficking and smuggling of human beings.

The third part of the report provides key figures regarding trafficking and smuggling.

The report ends with a series of recommendations.
