Advanced ELENA Conference: The use of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights in asylum and immigration law (2 days)

The conference will look into the application of the Charter to immigration and asylum law generally, which will be followed by a presentation from the perspective of the Court of Justice of the EU as to how the Charter has influenced European case law in the area of asylum and immigration.

What?

The Advanced ELENA Conference, which this year will be co-hosted by the Institute of Immigration Law, Leiden University, will explore the use of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights in immigration and asylum law. The aim of the conference is to provide practical insights to legal practitioners on how to improve asylum and immigration policies and practices using the Charter.

Registration?

The registration fee amounts to:
• 400€ for NGOs and lawyers
• 500€ for government officials and international organisations.
The fee includes one night’s accommodation (24 October), meals as per the programme including a social evening on Friday 24 October, and reading materials.

A limited number of bursaries can be offered to potential participants. The bursaries will be funded by the European Commission under the FRAME Project that aims to promote the use of the Charter amongst legal practitioners protecting the rights of vulnerable migrants.

A registration form has to be completed by Friday 19 September 2014 to secure a place.
